Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer – Military Derivatives

About the role
Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to join the Flight Tests Instrumentation Architecture & Equipment team in Getafe, supporting the Airbus Derivatives (MRTT) program. The role covers the full life‑cycle of FTI installations, from concept and integration to deployment and in‑service support.
Key responsibilities
- Design and define FTI installations on flight‑test aircraft, translating program requirements into complete hardware, software and digital solutions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation for aircraft installation design offices and laboratory facilities, ensuring compliance with quality, cost and schedule targets.
- Coordinate end‑to‑end FTI activities with stakeholders, managing budget, export‑control, stock, spare parts and verification & validation tasks.
- Support in‑service operations by diagnosing and resolving technical anomalies throughout the development phase.
- Evaluate make‑or‑buy options and introduce new instrumentation technologies to meet future project needs.
Required profile
- Degree in Electronics, Aeronautics, Telecommunications Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in testing activities and strong expertise in data‑acquisition systems for analog, digital and bus signals.
- Advanced English (written and spoken); Spanish is a plus.
- High adaptability, proactive problem‑solving, strong team spirit and effective communication in a multicultural environment.
Required skills
- Configuration of network devices (routers, switches) and WAN/LAN protocol stacks (TCP/UDP, IP, PTP, SNMP, Ethernet).
- Hands‑on experience with telemetry equipment (transmitters, antennas, amplifiers, calibration) and GNSS.
- Knowledge of RF chains and network simulation/analysis tools such as Wireshark and IPerf.
- Programming in Lua, LabVIEW or Python.
- Familiarity with Airbus documentation and tools (NRD, Sabre, DOORS, etc.).
