Global Category Manager - IT Hardware / Software

About the role

Roche's Global Diagnostics Procurement (DOP) team is looking for a Global Category Manager for IT hardware and software, based in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Spain (or Indianapolis, U.S.). The role takes ultimate accountability for the long-term category roadmap and the high-value IT supplier landscape that supports Diagnostics Instruments. It is an individual contributor position reporting directly to the Global Category Lead Capex / Engineering Services / IT.

Key responsibilities

• Collate market intelligence, supplier data and business requirements to build a formalized global category strategy and initiative pipeline
• Lead high-value commercial and contractual negotiations with strategic suppliers
• Manage key global suppliers, set up development and innovation programmes, monitor value targets and manage supplier risks
• Develop and maintain category guidance documents for procurement colleagues and business users
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders, challenge demand and specifications, and manage risk and CSR reviews
• Coach procurement colleagues, manage a shared Associate Category Manager and track budget spend

Required profile

• University degree (Business or Life Sciences preferred); post-graduate business qualification preferred
• 5+ years of strategic and operational procurement experience, including category management and strategic sourcing
• 5+ years of business experience in a regulated industry such as diagnostics, with awareness of legal and quality risks
• Deep knowledge of instrument control environments, embedded hardware (servers, PCs, IPCs, CPUs, firewalls, Tier 2 electronics) and IT software (operating systems, databases) and IP licensing
• Advanced knowledge of AI applications and digital transformation (Digital 2.0 / Industry 4.0)
• Proven financial acumen, including total cost of ownership and cost modelling
• Strong communication, project management and change management skills; business-level English; up to 30% travel
