Head of Finance
Egis Group · Madrid
Job description
About the role
FIA, a Madrid-based architecture practice acquired by the Egis Group in late 2024, has created a standalone finance leadership role to support its integration into the wider Group and its growth strategy. The position reports day-to-day to the Managing Director of FIA and functionally to the Finance Director of 10N, and partners with the Egis EURA region on financial compliance. It is a full-time role.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the primary finance partner and advisor to the Managing Director, line-manage the finance function (including the financial controller) and represent FIA with Group, EURA, shared services, auditors, tax advisors and banks.
- Own the budgeting, forecasting and medium-term planning cycle, deliver monthly management reporting (P&L, working capital, cash, WIP, margins, KPIs), build financial models and present to the MD, 10N Finance Director and senior stakeholders.
- Support bids, pricing, investment cases and new business, and own project financial performance, including revenue recognition, margins, cost control and project invoicing.
- Oversee the in-house finance team and external accountants, ensure accurate general ledger activity, comply with Egis management accounting rules and Spanish statutory requirements, and coordinate the annual statutory audit.
- Develop a longer-term shared services solution for FIA in Spain and lead the rollout of financial systems, including ERP tools and Tagetik.
Required profile
- Significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance role combining FP&A/business partnering and finance operations.
- Background in project-based or professional services environments, ideally architecture, engineering, design or consulting.
- Demonstrable experience owning a full business P&L and overseeing GL, AP, AR, month-end close and audit without dedicated shared services.
- Relevant professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or recognised Spanish equivalent).
- Strong English; Spanish is desirable.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel and strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Ability to partner with non-finance senior stakeholders and influence commercial decisions.
- Comfortable operating as the sole senior finance professional in a business.
