Junior Software Platform Integration Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is hiring a Junior Software Platform Integration Engineer in its Highly Integrated Systems (HIS) domain, within the Aircraft Systems Centre of Competence's Computing Platforms & Multisystems HW/SW Integration group (TADYS2). The role supports the computing platforms strategy, contributes to the development and testing of certifiable, high-performance software for computing platforms, and helps with HW/SW integration for multi-system architectures. It is a permanent position based in the Getafe area.

Key responsibilities

• Support the integration and standardization of software platforms
• Assist in eliciting and maintaining Software Requirements Specifications for onboard safety-critical computers, and run Validation & Verification (V&V) in line with RTCA DO-178C (up to DAL-A)
• Contribute to software platform architecture integration, including partitioning, scheduling, resource allocation and integration of third-party software (RTOS BSPs, drivers, middleware)
• Help implement common APIs and standardized access to platform support software (RTOS, BSP, low-level I/O, middleware)
• Participate in developing new capabilities such as secure mathematical functions, file system services and logging services
• Support platform software certification by preparing documentation and evidence for RTCA DO-178C compliance
• Assist in technical benchmarking, rapid prototyping on reference boards and board bring-up of new target platforms

Required profile

• Academic or internship experience, or strong theoretical knowledge, of safety-critical RTOS and the ARINC-653 specification
• Basic awareness of RTCA DO-178C processes
• Good command of English (B2 or higher) for technical documentation and teamwork
• Strong desire to learn, attention to detail, methodical problem solving, ability to follow technical instructions and work in a team

Required skills

• C programming for real-time embedded systems; familiarity with GCC and Clang/LLVM
• Foundational knowledge of ARM, PowerPC or x86 architectures, MMUs, caches and memory hierarchies
• Basic knowledge of avionics data buses (ARINC-429, CAN, Ethernet) and digital networks
• Familiarity with UART, SPI, I2C and basic DMA
• Ability to use Python for basic automation and understand JSON/XML
• Valuable: Embedded Linux, UML/SysML, static analysis and code coverage tools, Jira and Confluence
