Legal Counsel

About the role

ABB is seeking a Business‑ and Solutions‑oriented Legal Counsel to support the Motion Business Area and the Renewable Power Business Line in Spain. Reporting to the Division General Counsel, Motion High Power, the role will provide legal and integrity advisory to business stakeholders and ensure alignment with corporate policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Legal & Integrity (L&I) advisory to ABB management and business units, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and ethical standards.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts throughout their lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders and managing associated legal risks.
• Monitor and support legal affairs, including integrity, intellectual property, and litigation matters, in coordination with the Division General Counsel.
• Support strategic transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures as required.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks and opportunities, acting as a trusted business partner while maintaining independence.
• Ensure implementation of integrity standards, including the Code of Conduct and global/local policies.
• Provide training and guidance on L&I topics and support business strategy development.
• Foster collaboration with Country Corporate Counsel and contribute to cross‑functional, multicultural teamwork.

Required profile

• Spanish law degree (Grado en Derecho) and qualification as “Abogado”.
• Minimum five years of legal experience in a recognized law firm or multinational company.
• Understanding of complex cross‑border contractual setups for system deliveries.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
