R&D Business Tools Operations Specialist I

About the role

Roche's Digital Innovation and Operational Services chapter is a global R&D team focused on improving productivity, efficiency and cross-border collaboration by simplifying systems and harmonising processes. It is looking for an R&D Enterprise Tools Operations Specialist I to join its global service and support team, acting as a reliable service provider who handles critical system requests so scientists and engineers worldwide can focus on product development.

Key responsibilities

• Execute enterprise tool system tasks based on R&D customer requests, applying knowledge of business tools, compliance requirements and R&D processes.
• Provide fast, professional and empathetic support for operational issues and system problems, often as the main contact for R&D scientists and engineers.
• Act as subject matter expert for one or more complex R&D business applications.
• Develop expertise in key processes such as records management, lab data, training system data and change requests.
• Anticipate customer needs and proactively support R&D teams.
• Identify manual steps and suggest digitisation and process improvements.
• Apply or develop automation and AI tools to reduce administrative workload.
• Ensure all activities comply with regulated R&D processes, supporting audits and data retrieval.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical, scientific or business discipline.
• 2+ years of professional experience in operations, technical support or system administration, or equivalent academic projects/internships.
• Excellent written and spoken English; German is a plus.
• Ability to work well in a hybrid, virtual and global team, including occasional early-evening meetings.

Required skills

• Quickly learns new software, systems and processes.
• Prior experience with enterprise business applications (e.g. EDRM, LMS, project management tools) is highly desirable.
• Experience with SAP, Cornerstone, Google Suite and Office Suite.
• Desirable: data analysis, AI chatbots, AI prompt engineering and AI agent development.
