Senior Accountant - Month-End Close & Consolidation

About the role

Shalion, a data and insights company serving global manufacturers and brands through e-commerce monitoring tools, is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant in Barcelona. The role reports to the Finance Manager and owns the day-to-day bookkeeping accuracy, month-end close execution and the integrity of transactional data across the legal entities in Spain and the US. It is a hands-on, technically demanding position focused on financial consolidation, intercompany operations and SaaS revenue recognition.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle for the legal entities in Spain and the US, including support during consolidation in a multi-currency environment
• Reconcile intercompany transactions, balances and eliminations
• Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations
• Support month-end and year-end close: journal entries, accruals, prepayments, payroll entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain and reconcile bank accounts and keep the fixed asset register
• Prepare data packages for external auditors, tax advisors and local accountants, and prepare and file VAT returns (Spain) and support US sales tax filings
• Assist with transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements, and provide reconciled inputs for management reporting
• Monitor and improve accounting processes and controls, and support ERP implementation and system optimization

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in international or multi-entity, multi-currency environments
• Proven independent execution of month-end close
• Strong knowledge of Spanish accounting standards (PGC) and intercompany accounting
• Fluent Spanish and English (working proficiency required for both)

Required skills

• Hands-on ERP and accounting tools experience
• Advanced Microsoft Excel; proactive adoption of AI tools in finance workflows
• Nice to have: US GAAP, US tax compliance, revenue recognition (ASC 606 / IFRS 15), CPA/ACCA/ACA, ERP implementation experience, reporting and consolidation tools

• Permanent contract, salary from 35,000 to 45,000 EUR gross per year depending on experience
