Senior Java Engineer - DDoS Squad

About the role

ING Hubs Spain is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join its DDoS Squad within the Global Security Organization. The team designs, develops and maintains software that manages firewall rules and strengthens the security of ING's global network infrastructure. It works in an international environment with colleagues across several countries, using Agile and DevOps principles, and collaborates with Product Managers and other engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance software using Spring Boot and Java.
• Build and deploy solutions following CI/CD best practices and automated pipelines.
• Develop and automate infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code.
• Work with cross-functional teams on end-to-end solutions aligned with business and security needs.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as planning and refinement.
• Maintain documentation, operational procedures and development standards.
• Monitor and improve Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing applications with Spring Boot (preferred) or Java EE.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
• Understanding of security and risk principles in software development.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, strong communication skills and excellent spoken and written English.
• Nice to have: scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell; cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP; Agile, Scrum and DevOps familiarity; network and security knowledge.
