Senior Software Engineer for POC

About the role

Roche Diagnostics is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for a Proof of Concept (POC) project in Sant Cugat, Spain. The role sits in an Agile organisation that designs, implements, delivers and maintains reusable solutions that simplify interoperability between diagnostic solutions (Roche and non-Roche instrumentation, LIS, HIS, edge systems). The engineer supports the design, development, deployment and validation of future connectivity solutions while keeping the current base of deployments running, and leads the team's adoption of ASDLC and ways of working.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, development, deployment and validation of future connectivity solutions and maintain existing deployments.
• Lead the ASDLC adoption and ways of working in the team while preserving quality standards and good software practices.
• Lead technical discussions and complex initiatives, and influence decisions within the area of responsibility.
• Connect with business and architecture representatives to propose solutions for customers.
• Build and lead the team, inspiring it to create transformative solutions and influencing their prioritisation across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field plus 6 years of experience, or a Master's degree plus 4 years.
• Fluent English and Spanish for agile, cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong problem-solving skills, independence and a customer-centred mindset.

Required skills

• Healthcare interoperability: deep knowledge of standards such as HL7, POCT1-A, ASTM, LIS/HIS.
• C# .NET development, software design patterns, object-oriented design, TDD/BDD and unit/integration testing.
• Full SDLC ownership, including integrating AI toolsets and understanding cloud/frontend technologies.
• Technical leadership, mentoring developers and guiding architecture and AI strategy with product managers and stakeholders.
