Senior Underwriter Surety (Hybrid, 80-100%)

About the role

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is looking for a Senior Underwriter Surety based in Madrid, working 80-100% of the time in a hybrid setup. You will support Spanish, Portuguese and broader European clients with their surety and guarantee needs, work closely with the Head Surety Europe on local strategy and lead distribution with key clients and brokers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute priorities for key ongoing and future business initiatives to support Surety Iberia's growth ambition.
• Underwrite new and existing clients in a senior portfolio according to internal guidelines, keeping the highest standards of client satisfaction.
• Independently acquire and handle client relationships, originating and processing business opportunities focused on client needs and service quality.
• Analyse new business opportunities by assessing credit and transactional risks and legal due diligence, following Swiss Re's processes and guidelines.
• Develop account strategies to expand market footprint and steer your own client portfolio.
• Meet regularly with key clients and brokers, gather market trend information and represent Swiss Re at conferences and associations.
• Mentor and advise younger professionals as needed.

Required profile

• Significant relevant experience in surety, commercial banking and/or credit-risk financial services, with visible market knowledge and reputation.
• Experience serving multinational corporations with credit, guarantee and surety solutions for large and mid-sized corporate customers.
• End-to-end understanding of the surety value chain.
• University degree or equivalent in finance, economics, law or a related discipline.
• Spanish native speaker with written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel throughout Europe.

Required skills

• Excellent understanding of financial markets, including debt financing and capital market instruments.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, entrepreneurial mindset and ability to develop and present tailored solutions.

What we offer

• Base salary range of EUR 72,000 to EUR 120,000 for a full-time role, depending on profile and requirements.
• Possible performance-based annual bonus.
