Software & Data Systems Engineer - Predictive Maintenance

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a multidisciplinary Software & Data Systems Engineer to join its Health Management and Predictive Analytics team in Getafe. The engineer designs and develops ground software tools that power critical aerospace systems and flight operations, combining software engineering, systems engineering and data analytics. The role focuses on Health and Usage Management Systems (HUMS) for platforms such as the A400M, C295, EuroDrone, SIRTAP and Hurjet.

Key responsibilities

• Design scalable backend architectures, REST and gRPC APIs and ground tools handling large engineering datasets.
• Build applications for data acquisition, processing, analysis and visualization, from telemetry handling to dashboards.
• Define interfaces, boundaries and system requirements with avionics, hardware and maintenance teams.
• Apply data analytics, machine learning and data-driven methods to flight and operational data.
• Drive technical decisions, system trade-offs and platform roadmaps using CI/CD and containerization.

Required profile

• Degree in Aerospace, Systems, Software, Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of combined experience in software development, systems engineering or complex system design.
• Ability to think about systems holistically and to collaborate across systems engineering, avionics and software teams.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, C++, Java or Go).
• Scalable, modular or distributed systems and API design (REST, gRPC).
• Processing, managing and analyzing large datasets.
• Familiarity with version control, CI/CD pipelines and Docker.
• Preferred: aerospace or avionics experience, ARINC/AFDX knowledge, React and TypeScript, and predictive modeling or machine learning.
